THERMAL ICE STORAGE SYSTEM Report
Implemneting thermal ice storage system in HVAC appications. merits and e merits -can discuss

MOHAMMED SAIFUDDIN Report
As you may be knowing, Thermal Ice Storage system in HVAC, is used to build ice and store them in ice tanks at the time of off-peak (night time) and use them during on-peak (day time) by melting the ice. We are making ice during the time of low energy rates (mostly at the time of off-peak) and utilising the stored cooling during the time of high energy rates. Merits are - Ice storage system occupy less space / foot print [ usually 4 to 5 times lower than chilled water storage ] - cost effective for smaller size of storage system. Demerits are - requires additional heat exchangers, pumps etc - Limitation of supply cooling loads - comparatively complex controls - relatively high operation cost (compared to chilled water storage)
